Grounded in Midwestern values of hard work, responsibility, and generosity, Matthew grew up in Iowa and attended Iowa State University (ranked 9th by ArchRecord) where he traveled across the country and Atlantic studying architecture. Currently, he is working for the boutique firm Karin Payson architecture + design. As the Communications Officer of BAYA Matthew keeps members informed of professional opportunities and events, as well as keeps record of officer meetings and committee development. He is also active in promoting licensure for members by sharing resources, experience, and encouragement. Matthew’s leadership experience includes being a co-founder, program developer, and constitution writer for The GreenHouse Group at Iowa State University where he completed his Bachelor of Architecture. He is also active in The Missing 32% Project, ACE Mentorship Program, and developing programs for BAYA. He is midway through the IDP and the AREs. As a personal mission statement, it is Matthew’s goal to increase the value of the profession from within, as well as society’s value held for the profession.
